Visiting Bhutan is a rare and unique experience: a beautiful mountain kingdom that has remained virtually untouched over centuries. Its Buddhist culture is still richly intact and permeates every aspect of Bhutanese life and art.
Day 1 Arrive Paro – Thimpu You will be met at the airport and transferred to the capital of Bhutan, Thimpu, for a one night stay.
Day 2 Thimpu – Punakha City tour of Thimpu, perhaps the most unusual capital city in the world. Visit Trashichho Dzong and the National Library. This afternoon journey by road to Punakha over the Dochula Pass at an altitude of 3088m. Overnight Punakha.
Day 3 Punakha–Wangduephodrang –Paro Visit the beautiful Punakha Dzong built in 1637 with its towering walls and riverside location. Continue to Wangduephodrang with its formidable Dzong. After lunch, journey to Paro for a two night stay.
Day 4 Paro Morning excursion to the spectacular Taktsang monastery (Tiger’s Nest). The monastery is perched on a rocky ledge with a sheer drop of over 800m. Evening visit to the National Museum, formerly a watch-tower built to defend Rinpung Dzong.
Day 5 Depart Paro After breakfast transfer to the airport for onward flight.
